James and Nathan Thomas by their Attorney David Loyd delivered a deed to David Jones for 250 acres in the Great Valley now called White land dated the 19 day of January 1703/4

1706

James Thomas takes possession of 156 acres of land in Whiteland Township from Isaac Norris on 10 August 1706 for 46 pounds.  The land is situated next to land James already owns in Whiteland.

James Thomas named Whiteland supervisors of the highways

Edward Kinnison named Whiteland constable

James Thomas named constable of Whiteland

James Thomas is listed as the Constable of the township.

Edward Kennison is listed as the Constable of the township.

1715

In 1715 James Thomas paid double the taxes of anyone else in Whiteland township.  Assuming the taxes were based on improved land or visible assets, that would make James the lead developer in the township in that year.

1721

James Thomas applies for and is approved for a tavern license.

In October, James Thomas offers Stone House and Barn for sale.

Edward Kennison becomes the tavern owner.

James Trego takes over as owner.

Owen Aston takes over as owner.

Reese Meridith takes over as owner, but not the operator of the tavern.

July 8th, Tavern is used as a polling place to “frame a new government.”

September 4th, Thomas Jefferson ate a meal and spent the night.

September 16th, Battle of the White Horse Tavern (also known as Battle of the Clouds).

September 20th, Paoli Massacre and Gen. Smallwood’s force were routed by British.

John Kerlin takes over as owner and operator of tavern.

Arthur Rice takes over as owner and operator of tavern.

November 6th, Freemason Lodge 50 A.V.M. was established.

Stephen Bowen takes over as owner and operator of tavern.
